001 Why hi there!
I'm here, I'm here, hold the presses, I'm a bit late, but you've no idea how hard it is to get a cab at this hour! I know you were all waiting to see me, dying too, but please, hold the photographs!

Hello, hello, hello, monsieurs and mademoiselles, I'm your friendly local hair salon owner, Brendan Prince, and if you haven't met me, you haven't had your hair cut in three months, or at least not well, and that is just wrong. I am the proud owner of Prince's Crown Hair Salon, and would gladly schedule any one of you in as long as you didn't mind a bit of a wait, which I'm sure you wouldn't! It is your hair we are talking about, after all!

A little about me? Glad you asked! I'm originally from Massachusetts, but lived in L.A. for years, working my salon there before leaving in the very capable hands of two lesbians named Jo and Martha-they're fabulous and flannel free! I moved back home due to a family loss and set up shop here in the beautiful, bustling Bristol, bringing all you beautiful people Prince's Crown! Aren't you lucky? I'll pause for nods of agreement.

Anyway, that's me! Who are you?

Why not? Besides my parents having lived here for about twenty years, I think it's a quaint little place!

Is there a lot of business here for someone who doesn't work at the Hair Cuttery, though?

Sure is! Some people just fancy that special touch that my place has to offer!

I'm Lucy.

Right up front, I'm going to let you know that hairdressers scare the crap out of me. Everyone I've ever gone to see has been waaaaay too scissor happy.

Hi, Lucy!

Oh, listen, I'm only as scissor happy as the occasion calls for! I do what the masses desire!

Hugh. Hugh. As in Hugh who? I've done a few Hughs in my past, and worked for a couple, too!

The only Hugh worth knowing, dear. As in Hefner. I'm Miss May '03. And Miss June, but May looked better.

Get. Out. I did some work for him about two years ago or so now! He was calling all queers, I swear, with how many hair dressers were at his place! Oh my gosh! A former play mate, that is so L.A., I love it!

That sounds like him. Ugh, we have got to network. I've been here a few months and it's nice and all but Rhode Island is no California.

Oh baby, do I ever know that! I've done my time, getting my salon up and going, and now I just want to run on back to L.A. and get myself drunk and dance the night away-a past time that the Rhodeys don't seem to get up to. I'd be set if I wanted to quilt, though, let me tell you. Not that I don't love the darlings of Bristol to pieces, muah muah muah, love love love, but really. You and I, lady, are going to have to get together and properly bitch over some Starbucks.

Quilting? Tell me you didn't get the menopause brigade welcome, too!

And yes please to the Starbucks. Also heck yes.

I'm soooo sorry.

Any day now! My goodness, I'm locked away in this rediculous house with no one but my stepson for company on the weekends. Save me!

I am unnerved by your interest in my hair.

And also your exclamation points.

I'm used to that.

Learn to live with them. Embrace the exclamation points! EMBRACE!
